Questioning the status quo of design education.
Unlearn How You Think is a student collective & discussion series, questioning the status quo of design education. Since our first gathering on April 2026, we aim to incorporate student-driven methods into design education by starting a collaborative research on our online platforms, testing new methods of interaction by organizing various experimental events, such as peer-reviews. Through our actions we hope to rethink the profession of an “architect”, and to propose critical, ever-evolving methods into design education.

Details and context regarding this initiative.
Architecture is broken. Architects are not comfortable with change. They pretend to “believe” in experimentation in their safe boundaries - they are afraid of “real” Can architects accept they’re wrong? Are they able to self reflect? Are they aware of the power they possess in the cities? Are they responsible? Do they ever admit to mistakes? The role of the traditional architect, does not exist anymore. What we call an “architect” doesn’t correspond to the needs of the society we live in. The norms we carried from the past for the training of “the architect” only traps them in horse goggles. Architect is the mediator of various disciplines, the current trends of education limits “architects” into the profession of a “builder / service provider” rather than a mediator. Too specialized means inability to comprehend the whole picture, specialization is a contagious disease. This is an ever-evolving process, it’s based on the acceptance of mistakes - ability to recognize failure and learning from our own actions. Begin again. Unlearn how you think. Fail Better.
